News on the Mews 2007

Click here to jump to the latest Mews news.

With a property of this age, problems do occur from time to time. Connaught Mews being a grade II listed building does sometimes require maintenance. We aim to ensure that problems are dealt as quickly as possible before they get out of hand. Please let us know as soon as possible if you find a problem.

News from past years is also still available: 2004, 2005, 2006.

January 2007
The problem over the Christmas period with the gate sensor has been fixed.
Wishing you all a very Happy New Year for 2007.

Lantern House Door
Following complaints of either the door not closing or the door banging it was finally deciced to remove the front door closer from Lantern House. This brings Lantern House in line with Artillery House which also does not use door closers.

As a result of this, we are now able to fit a brush for under the door which is hoped to further reduce the problem of mice entering the property. This was recommended to us as part of the recent survey.

Storm Damage
During today's very high winds, three trees have come down, two near to the entrance and one into the courtyard. We are currently arranging for them to be removed.
Drain Jetwashing
Drain jetwashing has been carried out across the whole site.
Gate Code
It has been brought to our attention that the main security gate had a "default" code to open it of *1111. Due to an increasing number of complaints about wide spread use of this code by non residents, and concerns about declining security, this code has now been removed.

The gate can be opened as normal either by using your remote or by dialling it. Extra remote controls are still available for purchase via the website.

We are currently trying to arrange alternatives for the Post Office to access the site.

There have been reports that the Telguard system is not able to connect with some flats. Please contact us if you are having this problem. Most flats are unaffected by this problem so we need to determine if there is any pattern to the fault.
Following the removal of the gate code earlier this week for security reasons, the gates have now been damaged. Markhams have been contacted to come and repair them.

Update: 28/2/2007 - The gates are now working again.

A problem with the information request page on this website has now been fixed. If you have sent any messages using this recently they would not have reached us. The system is now working again, we are sorry for any inconvenience caused.

Artillery House door

Pedestrian Gate
Some residents have advised that they are unable to lock the Woolwich New Road pedestrian gate from the outside. While we are waiting for the lock to be repaired please use the vehicle gate or use one of the pedestrian gates on Grand Depot Road (your key will open both gates).

Update 10/7/07 - The gate has now been fixed. Please remember to lock the gate behind you. If you experience difficulty locking and unlocking the gate we will exchange your old key for a new one. Please contact us if you need to replace your key.

Bike enclosure
Anti-climb paint has been applied to the gate and railings of the bike enclosure. Please take care when opening the gate.
Current Task List
  • Improve north pedestrian gate.
  • Adding sides to the bike enclosure behind the AH bin enclosure.
  • Add railway sleepers to the far side of the tennis court to help with stopping sand going onto the court.
  • Renew the garden paths.

If there is anything that you have noticed that you would like us to look into that is not on the list, please do get in contact with us and let us know.
